The Do and Don'ts of Wood Flooring

Hardwood floors are desirable, stunning and come with a few simple Do's and Don'ts
Let's start with the Do?s?when caring for your hardwood floors:
  • Do wipe up spills as quickly as possible, letting spills sit should be avoided at all costs
  • Do sweep and vacuum your floors regularly to maintain the finish
  • Do choose a floor cleaner and process recommended by your flooring manufacturer
  • Do trim your pet?s nails regularly
  • Do keep floors shaded as extended sun exposure can accelerate aging and change the tone of the floor color
And now for the Don'ts when caring for your hardwood floors:
  • Don?t use abrasive products or cleaning tools with steel wool
  • Don?t use a buffing machine
  • Don't use oil-based, wax, polish or strong ammoniated products, which can dull your floor?s finish
  • Don't wash or wet-mop the floor with soap, water, oil-soap detergent, or any other liquid cleaning material. This could cause swelling, warping, delamination and joint-line separation, and void the warranty
