The following tips cover the different aspects of a maintenance program you will need to keep your carpet looking and feeling great:

1.VACUUMING
According to the Karastan Care and Cleaning Guide, “Regular vacuuming is the most important part of any maintenance program”; view Karastan Carpets as well as our full catalog of carpeting offered.  Vacuuming is the simplest way to keep carpet clean as well as to get the most out of the life of your carpet.  Regular vacuuming is imperative to the life and beauty of any carpet.

2. INTERIM MAINTENANCE
The Carpet and Rug Institute (CRI) has a Seal of Approval program that outlines certain criteria for products as well as service providers to ensure peak performance of all carpet products within the Flooring industry.

Interim Maintenance is defined by the CRI as “interim maintenance systems remove soil, which improves the appearance of carpet and in turn, prolongs a carpet's useful life”.  Interim maintenance is a scheduled frequency appearance cleaning for all traffic areas. Its purpose is to refresh carpet with a surface cleaning.

3. DEEP CLEANING
No matter how frequently you vacuum, police your house guests or even wipe the paws of your beloved dog every time he returns from trouncing through the yard, there will always be soils left behind that will inevitably get worked deeper into the carpet over time.  There are several types of deep cleaning processes (hot-water extraction, steam cleaning) that can help with this. An annual deep cleaning is recommended to remove embedded soils.

4. SPOT REMOVAL
Spots are inevitable on any carpet but, they do not have to be permanent; the means in which you treat a spot along with the timeliness of your treatment significantly reduces the damage to your carpet.  When a stain occurs, it is important to identify the type of soiling that has occurred and cross reference this with the Manufacturer's Care and Maintenance guide to ensure the appropriate actions are taken.

Carpet can be a great place to create memories with friends and family; if properly maintained it can be an enjoyable long-term investment for any home!
